Marc Anderson, Viola
Marc Anderson is on leave from Gibbs & Main for one season with his new baby, Charlotte and son, Milo. We wish Marc and his wife Samantha the best as they spend their first year with Charlotte.
Marc enjoys a versatile career as an orchestral violist, chamber musician and teacher. Marc has been with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra since 2005 and is a member of the RPO Educational Quintet. An avid chamber musician, Marc frequently collaborates with his RPO colleagues in many of the area’s classical concert series, such as the Skaneateles Music Festival, Chamber Music Rochester and First Muse. As a teacher, Marc is on the string faculty of Roberts Wesleyan College and the Eastman Community Music School.

Things he thought about doing with his life:
At different times I wanted to be a marine biologist, an academic, a computer programmer and a musician.
Favorite pre-performance ritual:
What really works for me is mental preparation and visualization, but I used to eat bananas and even tried jogging in place. Bananas are a popular pre-performance food; the Eastman Dorms used to sell out of them during juries. Must be the potassium!
What he does when he’s not making music:
Outside of music, I can usually be found grilling for friends, catching a movie at the Little Theatre, biking throughout Irondequoit, studying pop culture, admiring my lovely wife Samantha and playing with my son Milo.
