Angel OuYang, violin

An-Chi "Angel" OuYang, violin

Violinist, An-Chi "Angel" OuYang, comes from a family of musicians, and began playing the piano at the age of 5 and the violin at age 6. Ms. OuYang received a Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance from Soochow University in Taipei, Taiwan. Angel came to the United States in after college to continue her studies at the Eastman School of Music, with Lynn Blakeslee, where she received a Master of Music in Violin Performance and Literature. In 1990, Ms. OuYang toured North America with the second violin section of the Taipei Sinfonietta. In 1997 she toured North America again in the first violin section of the Yin-Qi Symphony Orchestra. Ms. OuYang has been a member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra since 1997. Angel has also performed in the first violins of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, the Rochester Oratorio Society, and the Skaneateles Festival Orchestra.

From 2002 to the present, Angel has performed as the second violinist in the RPO’s Educational String Quintet, a group dedicated to bringing classical music to the elementary school children of the Rochester City Schools. As a chamber musician, Ms. OuYang has appeared on "Live From Hochstein" with the Hochstein String Quartet in 2003 and with Quartsemble in 2006. She also performed with guitarist, Shiuen-Huang Tzeng in a duo concert tour of Taiwan in 2005. She has been a member of Quartsemble for three years and has performed throughout upstate New York with the ensemble. Angel has been on the violin faculty of the Hochstein School of Music since 1996 and teaches privately at home. She is also an accomplished pianist and accompanist, and performs regularly with her students and colleagues.
