It's all about the intersection.
Concert halls and cocktail hours. Mozart and Mantecca. Highbrow and Löwenbräu. Gibbs & Main is five professional musicians dedicated to performing classical masterpieces side by side with Latin, pop, and contemporary repertoire. We venture well outside the traditional "chamber" of chamber music, bringing our passion for performance into schools, churches, libraries, and our favorite neighborhood bars, bistros, and coffee shops.
Founded in 2002 by Karine Stone and Diego Garcia and originally named Quartsemble, we often expand beyond our core quintet, performing with winds, pianists, vocalists, narrators, and choirs, including Rochester-based Madrigalia. And through Kidsemble, our innovative concert and workshop program for kids, we bring great music down to earth and into the hands of our youngest fans.
Our performances have received rave reviews locally and nationally. Here's just a sampling:
"It [our album 'Tango'] succeeds because of the extremely high level
of musicianship the individual members bring to the album....The effect is exhilarating!"

"It's more that just five instruments, it's one sound,
it's unmistakable... I could listen to you all day."
--Bob Newbury, Madrigalia Member and Organist.
